UniFi Switch Pro 48 PoE
Ubiquiti · rack switch, 1U · USW-Pro-48-PoE
what it is
A managed layer-three switch for a 19-inch rack, 1U high: forty-eight gigabit PoE ports and four 10G transceiver slots. A 1.3-inch touchscreen on the front panel. Steel enclosure 442 × 400 × 44 mm, weight 6.2 kg — this is deep equipment and requires a rack at least four hundred millimeters deep.
The PoE budget is 600 W for the whole device. Forty ports deliver PoE+ (802.3at), and the last eight PoE++ (802.3bt) — the more powerful ones will power PTZ cameras and Wi-Fi 7 access points, for which PoE+ is no longer enough.
what we read from it
The state of each of the fifty-two ports separately, and for the PoE ports also power draw. On a switch of this size a failure rarely affects the whole device; it almost always affects a single port.
What settles tickets on this model:
- PoE draw per port and the total for the device. Six hundred watts seems like a lot until you plug in thirty cameras. Exceeding the budget does not shut down the switch — it shuts down the last device that was connected, and it looks like a failure of that device.
- Link drop and errored frame counters per port. With forty-eight cables this is the only way to find the one faulty cable before a user reports it.
- CPU and memory load — this model routes between networks, so overload slows down traffic, not just management.
- Redundant power settings — the power management mode when running from an external power supply and the port assignment. This is configuration; the switch does not say whether the backup power supply is charged.
- Internal temperature — the
general_temperaturefield in the list below. - Which device sits in which port, together with its MAC address.
port layout
The forty-eight copper ports sit in two rows of twenty-four, divided into four blocks of six columns. Numbering runs down, then right: 1, 3, 5… on top and 2, 4, 6… on the bottom.
The 10G slots are in two separate cages, two each stacked one above the other: ports 49 and 50 in the left one, 51 and 52 in the right one. This is not a single block of four — it matters when plugging in fiber, because the cages are separated by a smaller gap than the copper ports.
The PoE+ / PoE++ split does not coincide with the block split: the boundary runs between port 40 and 41, i.e. in the middle of the fourth block. Anyone looking for a PoE++ port will not find it by a gap in the enclosure.
The touchscreen is at the left edge, the reset button at the right, at the very bottom of the panel. The rear panel has two power inputs: AC and redundant DC.
what to watch out for
- There is no cable test. The UniFi Network 10.6.106 controller has no such function at all.
- SNMP will not report PoE draw. Per-port draw is provided only by the controller. UniFi switches silently truncate an SNMP community string longer than 20 characters.
what we cannot read
- What the switch passes through — traffic and error counters are visible, not content.
- PoE draw history on a port over time. The device reports the current value.
- 10G transceiver health — temperature and optical signal level. The device reports link state, not optics.
transceivers tested in this device
Transceivers we checked in this device, and whether the device showed their optical diagnostics (temperature, power, alarm thresholds):
- Ubiquiti OM-SM-10G-S (10G BiDi), firmware
7.4.1.16850: diagnostics read (1 units). - Ubiquiti UF-SM-10G (10GBASE-LR), firmware
7.4.1.16850: diagnostics read (3 units). - Unbranded SFP+10G-CP-5M (10G SFP+ Direct Attach), firmware
7.4.1.16850: diagnostics not shown (4 units).
All transceivers and switches in one place, with filters: what each device shows.
full parameter list from the controller interface
The list shows WHAT the device exposes — including parameters we do not use ourselves. There are no values here at all: it is a catalog of capabilities, not a reading from anyone's network. It is not a closed list either — explanation below the table.

This is not a closed list. It comes from reading a unit we had access to — it shows what we managed to retrieve, not everything the device can return. A different firmware version, hardware variant or reading path can expose fields that are not here. If you are interested in a specific unit and a specific value — please ask; there is a good chance it can be obtained, even if you do not see it below.
List source: reading of 6 working units (as of 2026-09-27). The list is the sum of what we observed — more units reveal more parameters, so numbers for different models are not directly comparable.
full list of parameters read via SNMP
This list comes from a different reading path than the controller list above. These are objects the device itself returns over SNMP (names from MIB files). There are no values here, and no port numbers either.
