UniFi AC LR
Ubiquiti · ceiling access point, Wi-Fi 5 · UAP-AC-LR
what it is
An access point for ceiling or wall mounting, Wi-Fi 5 on both bands. The housing is a white polycarbonate disc 175.7 mm in diameter and 43.2 mm thick, weighing 240 g — midway between the Lite and Pro models, but with an antenna designed for greater range at the same power.
There is a single connection: a 10/100/1000 port accepting PoE. Power draw reaches 6.5 W, the same as the smallest Lite model — the extended range costs nothing in power budget here, which has real significance on a switch with eight powered ports.
The power standard depends on which manufacturer document you read. The family datasheet lists 802.3af together with passive 24 V power, while the quick start guide lists passive only. Hardware revisions may differ; none of these documents settles it. Before plugging it into a switch without passive power, the specific unit therefore has to be checked.
what we read from it
The full set of radio data — the same as for the other access points of this family.
- Channel utilization separately for 2.4 and 5 GHz, broken down into transmit and receive.
- Client count separately in each band, operating channel and transmit power.
- Share of retransmitted frames — for an extended-range access point this is a particularly useful indicator: it rises when the coverage reaches further than conditions allow, and a client holds on to the access point instead of moving to a closer one.
- Client signal quality: average and worst level, signal-to-noise ratio, the lowest rate at which any of them connects.
- Link state to the switch together with the port number, negotiated speed, and counters of link drops and errored frames.
- Uptime, availability and response latency.
port layout
There is no port at all on the visible face. The only element is a glowing status ring with an outer diameter of about 65 mm, in the center of the disc.
The connections are on the ceiling side, in a recess in the housing: the network port and the factory reset button. Both sit on the side wall of the recess, not on its floor — which is why they are not visible in the bottom view, and why mounting requires leaving space at the side, not only underneath.
The recess is just under seven centimeters wide and is offset from the axis of the disc.
what we cannot read
- Temperature — UniFi access points do not report it in any field.
- A list of clients with names — aggregate statistics are visible, not a list of people.
- Spectrum outside its own operating channels. An access point reports what it hears on its own channel; a picture of the whole band requires a separate sensor.
- The power standard of the specific unit — it is not visible remotely.

These are objects the device itself returns over SNMP (names from MIB files). There are no values here, and no port numbers either.
